This question comes from amazing movement mentor @movementrevolution Look at the results of her poll! 44% of her followers say they do not have a daily practice. 😳

What this means to me is that folks do not have an *intentional* daily movement practice, because humans are moving all the time: blood pumps, food digests, waste eliminates, muscles are tight or slack based on the body's place in space. We're all moving in ways that either support optimal health or contribute to physical and mental (and emotional) dis-ease. 😳
.
When you think about your future, how do you picture your health? Are you walking with ease? Able to be physically playful? Can you carry your kids and grandkids? Are you friends with the floor? Are you confident, hesitant or scared to use your body to move around the world any way you want? 😳

You could be. 
You CAN be.

How To Move More: Keep It Real | Calf Stretch and coffee is the way I start my day. ☕

That bright blue hunk of foam is always tucked under my kitchen counter. Unavoidable. Making the point that restorative movement is always available. ☕
.
Before you get dressed. Before the caffeine kicks in. Before you know it, you'll be moving more without having to think too much about it. ☕
.
Create the conditions for change. Start with small, significant shifts, like Calf Stretch EVERY MORNING.🌞
.
Because everything is connected in our bodies (and also in the universe) any change changes everything. 😎
.
1. Stand with feet hip distance apart. Toes straight ahead.
2. Place ball of right foot on top of the half dome. Heel is on the ground. Shift body weight to the right heel.
3. Move left foot forward until you feel a good stretch in the calf of the right foot. Keep feet straight, weight stays on right heel.
4. Hold for 20-30 seconds. And switch feet.
5. Observe sensations, notice changes, invite ease.
6. Repeat 3x.

How To Move More: Feel the Earth | Barefoot hiking wakes up my nervous system, focuses my attention on where I'm going, asks me to be mindful about each step and puts me in touch with the earth in a way nothing else does. 👣
.
Being comfortable enough to slip off my sandals and feel the earth beneath my feet has been a journey of years. Slowly starting with barefoot around the house and yard. Progressing to predictable soft dirt paths. Taking a chance on smooth rocky trails. Challenging balance and stamina on any trail, anywhere. Leaving shoes off longer. Taking them off sooner. Slipping back into shoes and out again. Taking my time.  Slowing down. No longer keeping track of it. Letting go of the effort required to change. Just being on the trail any way I want. Feeling free. 👣
